It is in original condition not ever repaired, fixed, rehabbed, or re-painted. There are different versions of this design in miniatures and standard sizes. Some with different wood and Wicker configurations. This carriage is the standard size made with decorative wicker, custom metal parts, and dyed black fabric. The fabric is coarse and dry; because of the age and quality, carriages with this fabric are rarely found without some kind of rips, tears, and holes.
The fabric on this carriage is completely intact with signs of use and of course age. The fabric is used for the carriage hood/sunshade and the lining of the carriage. Since the fabric is so dry and coarse attempting to move the hood up or down will damage it (rip, tear). There is a chip at the end of thicker wicker band at butt joint see photo 11.
The latch lock for the carriage hood on right side popped off see last photo. They are made by Springford Inc. They are Victorian style with velvet or velour green clothing and hats.
